I was blessed to know June for many years thru Central United. June was a vibrant, dynamic woman of joy! She was part of several “rowdy” church members who took me under their wings. We enjoyed meetings, bible study, meals, parties, bulletin folding “Fridays”, which were the best part of my week. I loved the stories she told, especially the funny ones because she was often snorting with laughter half way thru. She had wonderful parties, unique ones(She hosted my ‘divorce’ party, and her gift to me at that party was a signed poster of the Mustang football players). I have no doubt of her place in Heaven, reunited with her loved ones, and with those other “rowdy” Central ladies(Elizabeth, Faith,Katherine etc). How lucky I was to know this phenomenal woman!

As a friend of Katherine and David, I always felt welcome under June's roof. She was one of the neighborhood moms who kept us on the straight and narrow, (with the occasional zig-zag). She had the wisdom to overlook the minor infractions so long as we stayed on the proper side of the big divides. June and Don were wonderful role models of tolerance and decency, virtues the world needs now more than ever.

June was a mentor, a friend and one of the 'rocks' of the United Church. She did so much for so many. We enjoyed her company, her debates, her hospitality. There were always few like her and now one less. She was a light to so many, now she is lighting up heaven and when you look up, one of those stars is the twinkle in her eye. We thank God for creating this leader. Let her soul rest, until God finds there is something else that she needs to do. Peace.

June was our good neighbour on Idsardi Ave. I made friends with June when we first moved onto the street when she invited me to play bridge. I found out that she was an avid knitter and so asked her to make a Christmas stocking for our daughter Stacey. It still gets used every year. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Kathy and David. June will be missed.

I am the Minister of Pastoral Care at Central United Church in St. Thomas, and have been in this position for 10 years. This means that I have had the privilege of working with your Mom on the Pastoral Care Committee for a number of years. She was an active part of this Committee, and we worked together to compile the list of folk to whom we would deliver Christmas baskets which contained home- made goodies. June was our hostess for multiple Committee meetings and she thoroughly enjoyed this role. So many folk have appreciated her multiple contribution to the Central church family. I continued to visit your mom at Metcalfe Gardens and Extendicare as her health declined. Whenever we talked in these 2 facilities, she always wanted to know what was transpiring in the church life.
We also connected because I took my arts program at Huron College as she did her Master’s degree at Huron.
May I offer to you my sincere sympathy in the loss of your Mom.
John

June was such a great neighbour and we spent many times talking through our backyard fence. I remember a couple times I’d have to knock on her door and let her know that her springier had been on all night. She loved her garden! Liz Pickering

My condolences to Kathy and David. June was always my big cousin and one of the few people I have met who never seemed to have a discouraging word or be without a smile. The world is a little less without her.

I grew up next to June when she lived on Idsardi Ave in St Thomas. Despite our 60 year age gap, I considered her a friend. My bedroom window faced her kitchen window, and I fell asleep many nights to the glow of the green lights she kept on for her indoor plants. We used to post messages to each other from our respective windows. Sometimes she would bring me back a souvenir from her travels. I remember the homey smell of her house, and I remember, even as a little girl, being inspired by her zest for life.
Love, Emily Pickering
