I know this tribute is late but I only learned about John's passing recently.
I served as CEO of the ODC while John was a Vice President. I always valued his counsel even when we occasionally disagreed. Nobody could doubt his desire to build a better Ontario or his sense of teamwork. His willingness and capacity to be a mentor to many others was particularly valuable to the ODC and the Ontario Public Service.
I will always think of John with affection and respect.

I never called him Uncle Mitch because I was probably in my early twenties when we first met. We did not have the history and I'm sure that I believed I had not earned the right to call him by the most honourary of title, Uncle. Not many familiarize my name, he did.
