Obituary of Sylvia Marie Hewitt

HEWITT - Promoted to Glory on November 4, 2021. Sylvia Marie (nee Swan) of St Thomas passed away peacefully at University Hospital, London with family at her side at the age of 67. Beloved wife of Maurice Hewitt sr. Sylvia is survived by her children Maurice Hewitt jr, Peter Hewitt (Shannon Duchene-Hewitt), and Georgina Cottrell (Phillip) all of St Thomas; grandchildren Lily Duchene-Hewitt, Holly Duchene-Hewitt, Mackenzie Cottrell (Brandon Murphy) Alexander Cottrell; great grandchild Oliver Murphy. Sylvia will be missed by her siblings Marty Swan (Krista) and Barb Young (James); sibling in law Jackie Oliver (Gordon), Linda Campbell and by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Sylvia will be missed by close friends Clarise Welsh, Derek Coniam and Marion Matthews. Predeceased by her siblings May Dingmen (Ken), Helen Alexander (Clarence), Mary Jane Berber (Willford), and Bob Swan. Sylvia was a longtime member of the Salvation Army. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Monday, November 8, 2021 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. For those wishing to attend the funeral service, please register on Sylvia’s tribute page on the funeral home website or call the funeral home.
