Dear Christine, Erika, and all the family, I was deeply saddened to hear about Gary’s passing. He was such a generous soul and a great teacher. I was talking with him via social media and following his beautiful work. He generously offered advice when I asked. I remember him encouraging me on the day I was photographing Erika and Johnathan’s wedding. May you all be consoled in remembering the goodness in him. My sincere condolences. With much love.

Dear Christine,
On behalf of everyone at L’viv Theological Seminary, we would like to express you, your children and grandchildren our sincere condolences on the loss of your loving husband, father and grandfather, Dr. Garry Milley. We grieve with you. We support you with our prayers.
Garry was a good-natured, sacrificial, open, and cheerful person. That's how we will always remember him. He was able to notice the needs of students and find solutions to those needs; he became a true friend for all of us!
Dr. Milley had taught at L’viv Theological Seminary many times. He also shared his professional knowledge and experience in photography, served us with his singing and inspiring preaching. We thank God for letting us know Dr. Milley. The time spent with him was precious.
Dr. Milley also provided significant financial support for LTS. We really appreciate this.
May the Lord give you strength to endure this great pain from your loss!

To: Christine, Erika, Andrew, Philip and family.
Words cannot explain how I felt when I heard that Garry had left this word for his heavenly home.
Our days of friendship goes back to the time we meet at EPBC. Spending time together, Albert and me, Garry and you. The time when Albert and Gary got ordained in Corner Brook. The many time we got together since than.
Another Soldier of the Cross has gone home. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants. Psalm 116:15 . His ministry will continue in the lives of his Children, and those he had the privilege of ministering to.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during your time of bereavement. What a ‘blessed hope’ we have and it’s all because of God’s amazing grace!! We will meet again.
Hold on to the memories that you all have shared over the years, and hold on to God, He will uphold each one of you today and in the days to came.
Isaiah 46:4 “ I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you”..
Please be assured of my thoughts and prayers as you travel this journey of grief.

I was my privilege to have met Garry Milley through the London Pen club several years ago. He was a kind and gentle person. Though he has not attended for a few years now, he will be missed by those who had the chance to meet him. I remember he had these nice leather bound journals made for him. Condolences to his family and parishioners.

My name is Vahen King, and Dr. Milley was my professor, but he was also …
• among the many who called me “smiles” in college.
• He was among the first at my side when I was rush to the hospital.
• He helped me write me VERY FIRST article.
• He endorsed my book – I think it was mostly to ensure I had “SOUND Theology” and correct spelling. haha
• But He was a very intelligent man who spoke with eloquence, but yet he was humble and full of grace.
• We TALKED about collaborating and encouraging each other as equals, which was a great honor for this, “I don’t got good grammar Newfie.”
But, one of my first memories of some words of wisdom spoken into my life by Dr. Milley "outside" the classroom,
was after ONE of the many times I had my heart broken while I was a student at epbc.
Dr. Garry Milley said to me, "Vahen when you find your Mr. Right he will enable you to open up and Bloom like a rose.
And lastly, I want to share my most memorable memory I have of Dr. Milley. It was in an interviewed we did in 2020. He had MANY note worthy nuggets of wisdom, but when he reminded me of a very powerful quote by the great reformer Martin Luther, to speak words of encouragement to me, I knew it would be Wisdom that would never forget.
He said, Vahen, "one" of the qualifications of a great pastor is pain. Pain gives you the authority to speak, and pain also gives you empathy for others.
He acknowledged God's strength in me and thanked God for giving me the courage and determination to push through my pain.
He acknowledged that I had the authority to speak. Given by the Lord, but also given to me through pain.
I am so blessed to have had Dr. Garry as a professor, but also a mentor and friend.
So to all who knew Dr. Garry, to his beautiful wife Christine and all the family, ALL his friend’s, I send my heartfelt condolences, love, along with prayers of support, as you navigate this painful loss and go on without someone whom we all loved, cherished and respected so dearly.
Blessings

To Graham, Karen and the rest of the Milley Family -
Please accept my deepest condolences on Garry's passing. Garry (and of course, you and the other members of the Milley family) is a fixed impression on my memory of growing up down the street in Windsor, NL and afterwards. In particular, I recall a random night visiting friends at EPBC when we ended up at Garry's place. He played the part of genial professor, talked of meeting Barry McGuire somewhere along the way, played his Ovation guitar and sang some songs. We enjoyed a good time together. That was about 40 years ago and it was the last time I saw him. He's gone way too soon and I am sure you feel all unspeakable pain. I'll be thinking of you at this difficult time. With love and friendship always, Ira

I have two very fond memories of Dr. Milley:
1. The day he let me come in and interrupt his Pentecostal History class at EPBC so I could bring flowers to my then fiancée (now my wife :) who was a student in his class. He was a romantic at heart!
2. Years later, Dr. Milley and I were both pastoring in the PAONL for a season, and I was teaching a seminar at a church in St. John's NL. I was very intimidated to discover that one of the people taking the seminar was my former EPBC professor :) After the seminar was over, he came up to me and said, "Shane, you did such a great job with the teaching today; I couldn't have done nearly as good as you. It blessed my heart to be taught by one of my former students". Even though we all knew he could have indeed taught much better than me, it was very affirming to be supported in that moment by a great academic and pastoral mentor.
He will be missed by so, so many. Praying for God's peace to surround his entire family.

Christine and family,
Linda and I were so shocked to hear of Garry's home going.
Another General of the Faith!
We go back so many years. I recall the Milley family relocating to Central NL when Garry was in his teens. So many memories of sing songs and Bible Studies at their home. Garry, Wally White and myself had a gospel group and we travelled to numbers of churches providing the music ministry for many weekend meetings. Before any of his ministry training, Garry was still "up" to preach when given the opportunity.
On another note, momma Milley gave us young guys, that all hung out together, the odd scolding, with love, to ensure we stayed on track in our lives. We love you for those tough talks!!
Delighted that we were able to stay connected all through the years. The relationship was so meaningful.
Christine, the Lord will be along side to help you and the family in the days ahead.

I will always remember one of my first times meeting Garry! It was at MUN in 1972. I was walking through the "tunnels" between classes and I spotted him. We can hardly believe your loss and certainly can never enter into the depth of your sorrow but we wish to share with you as much as we can our appreciation for your loss, and our thoughts and prayers. Garry and i grew together in our faith and call as Christians during our university years and served together on the Chi Alpha executive and vigorously pursued together a deeper walk in the Spirit. He helped me pack my suitcase in those days when PAONL sent me to a SALT conference sponsored by AOG, showing me how to fold my shirts properly, probably all the time perhaps being the better candidate to go, shared AIM Teams training and ministry together in western NL and I benefited from his book on the Minor Prophets, using it as a resource while teaching in Uganda. While not in close contact for much of our adult life because of places of ministry we kept our friendship very much alive and when we met it was as if there had been no separation. Garry spent his life in ministry and as a family you can rest in peace knowing his greatest hope has been fulfilled.

My deepest condolences to you, your immediate and extended families. I am shocked, saddened by the passing of Dr. Milley. He and His brother has been influential with my education in high school and post secondary. When I arrived in Peterborough he was the first to say you have what it takes to get through the next 4 years. He was the only person to say I know a lot about you. As a fellow Newfoundlander, I knew he was someone I could go to and trust if he knew a lot about me. We had plenty of conversations and most encouraging. His faith in God inspired me to pursue faith in the most devoted way. The first thing I thought of when I heard this news was spiritual discipline. He was a gentle man and desired for others to be close to God through discipline. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayer during this time and in the coming weeks.

I was sat in class back in Canada. The classroom was somewhat unconventional as our school was under transition. Only a few of us had registered for the course and the school honored us by offering it in our city. Suddenly, the professor said, "Jarvis, you play the piano, right?"
"Well, I play with it a little," I answered.
"Come! Sit at the piano and let us worship for a moment before we begin our session for today." he beckoned.
I felt honored and blessed to follow his wishes. We sat there and opened some old hymnbooks that were lying off to the side of the room on a table. In retrospect, I wonder if the professor had not arranged it that way.
As we launched into the beautiful poetry of the hymn reaffirming the story of our theology, we lifted our voices in praise to our King. I could not help myself and I stole a look up from the keys and over at the professor who was stood halfway across the room.
What I saw has never left my memory and it lingers with me as a reminder of who he was to me. He was stood there with his eyes closed. His two hands were raised to Heaven. He was belting out the words of the song from memory as tears streamed down his face. He was unabash by his raw love for his Savior.
It was later that morning and after the lecture that he felt the need to come to me and ask how I was doing. Only our Heavenly Father could have prompted him to do such a thing as I was weighed very heavily by a very personal matter. I shared a little with him. He said in his calm voice, "My son (a Newfoundland term of endearment), you should not have to be dealing with this nor worrrying about this right now. Come here and we will give this whole matter to our Father."
We held each other and he prayed tearfully and fervently for me and my situation.
We never spoke of it again, but it encouraged me so much. The storm soon passed, but the healing that was brought to my distraught heart by this very caring man has never been forgotten.
Dr. Garry Milley, you have impacted the lives of thousands across the world of which I am only one.
You are already missed, but I cannot help but feel a slight sense of envy as you have graduated to your heavenly reward. Memories of you linger in our saddened hearts, but we rejoice in knowing that you have passed beyond this veil of tears to that place where we all long to be.
Please accept our deepest condolences - Jarvis and Loretta Randell, Seoul, South Korea

To Garry’s Family,
Got to know Garry when his Father was pastor in Roddickton in the fifties. He and David came to our house sometimes. My mother, Phyllis living now in Grand Falls, still has pleasant memories of his mom and siblings.
We will miss Gary’s Facebook writings. Our love to his wife and family,

I wouldn’t be able to count the number of times I received a message from Garry saying something like, “Keep writing, Andrew, you have many good things yet to say.” — He loved to encourage critical thinking, and for that, I’m grateful.
