Obituary of Andy Van Helvoort

VAN HELVOORT – Adrianus “Andy” of St. Thomas passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at the age of 90.  Beloved husband of Ann Van Helvoort (nee Eizinga).  Andy is survived by his loving children Betty (Fred) Morsink of Stratford, David (Donna) Van Helvoort of St. Thomas, Fred (Laurie) Van Helvoort of St. Thomas and Margaret (Kees) Morsink of Sterling; by his grandchildren Kaleigh (Ryan) Douma and their children Maksum and Mataya, Nadine (Ryan) Van Horne and their children Oliver and Jackson, Greg Morsink and his son Hayden, Michael (Stephanie) Van Helvoort and their children Leah, Ben and Elise, Joshua Van Helvoort, Andrew (Taylor) Van Helvoort, Mark Van Helvoort, Melissa (Mike) Kroekenstoel and their children Elowyn and Lennon, Matthew (Alexa) Van Helvoort, Jasmine Morsink and Jade Morsink.  Andy is also survived by his three sisters Myntje, Geertje, and Jennie; and his two brothers-in-law Jan and Kees all in Holland; and by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Holland.  Predeceased by his parents Fritz Van Helvoort and Gysbertha Buis and in-laws David and Grace Eizinga; by his siblings and siblings-in-law Mary and Bas, Rut and Joe, Bep, Tun, Fritz and Miet, Dirk, Martha and George, Grace and George, and Marion.  Arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570).  Visitation will be held at The Junction, 320 Elm Street, St. Thomas on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service held at 1:00 p.m.  Interment to follow in Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery.  If desired, donations to St Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.sjfh.ca
