Obituary of Florence Elizabeth Leslie

LESLIE - Florence Elizabeth (nee Lewis) passed away peacefully in her 95th year at Vallyview Nursing Home, St. Thomas on February 3rd, 2017. She was born August 13, 1922, daughter of the late Fred and Lorena Lewis of Strathroy, ON. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Leslie (1988). Survived by loving children Joan Bogart (Reg) of St. Thomas, Lyn Leslie of New Sarum, and David Leslie (Rose) of London, ON. Cherised grandchildren Brent Bogart and Kristen Smith (John) and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Missed by brother Ken Lewis (Carol) of St. Thomas and sister in law Dorothy Lewis of Strathroy. Florence will be missed by good friends Thelma Redding and Nancy Harris. Florence is predeceased by sister Doris Reavely (late Allan) and brother Carl Lewis. Florence worked for many years at Canadian Tire in St. Thomas and belonged to Port Stanley Seniors, St. Thomas Seniors, St. Thomas Legion and Labour Centre. She lived to play cards, read and walk in Pinafore Park. The family would like to express their gratitude to Caressant Care staff and the staff at Vallyview Home for the love that they showed her. A memorial service to celebrate Florence’s life will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Visitation from 1:30 -2:00pm. Interment of ashes will take place in Strathroy Municipal Cemetery on a later date.
