Obituary of Roy Eric Wakerley

WAKERLEY - Roy Eric passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2024, in his 85th year at University Hospital - London Health Services.  He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Linda, his daughter Susanne (Dean), son Vince and his children Emma, Laura and Josh, and brothers Vic (Siri) and Dennis (Nina) all of the United Kingdom.  He will also be dearly missed by his stepchildren Kathy (Eric) in Ottawa and their children Mathew, David, Emily and Amanda, Ed (Susan) in St. Thomas and their children Esther, Hannah and Isaac, Nancy (Brian) in Salmon Arm, B.C. and Nancy’s children Melanie, Melissa and Emma, Brian in New Hamburg, and many great grandchildren.  He will also be missed by Linda’s family, including Thanos and Josie Dimitrakopoulos, Mark and Tracy Peterkins, John and Vicki Peterkins, Sandra and Jamie Muir, and many grandchildren.  Roy is predeceased by his wife Marie, and his sister Maureen.  Roy was born on June 23, 1939 in London, England, and moved to Canada in the ‘60s.  He held numerous management positions with engineering companies in London, Ontario.  There wasn’t anything Roy couldn’t fix, and he loved to help his family and friends with tasks big and small!  He also loved to tell jokes and play the guitar.  He was also an accomplished painter and an avid model airplane collector.  Roy will be dearly missed by his many friends and family.  Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  The Celebration of Life will be held in the chapel on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.  Interment of ashes in Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.  If desired, donations to Teen Challenge would be appreciated.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.sjfh.ca
