Obituary of Greg Ashton

ASHTON- Gregory James of St. Thomas passed away at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital after a long and courageous fight with cancer on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the age of 58.  Beloved son of the late Ken Ashton (2023), and Dawn (Bob) Osman of St. Thomas.  Greg will be dearly missed by his step-sisters Patti Vandenbroek (Brian) and Sandy Robbins all of St. Thomas; by his aunts and uncles Marilyn O'Brien (Austin), Gary Ashton (Vivian) and Wayne Ashton (Jo-Ann), Marilyn Beechey, Dan Beechey (Janice), Carole Beechey, and Jill Beechey; and by his many cousins and friends.  Predeceased by his grandparents Mervin and Mabel Ashton, and Jim and Viola Beechey; and by his uncles Bryan Ashton, Tom Beechey, and Larry Beechey.  Greg enjoyed his career as a truck driver and tow truck driver, having worked at Loveday’s and most recently at RHT in St. Thomas.  When he wasn’t driving truck, Greg loved to watch NASCAR with his close-knit group of friends.  A celebration of Greg’s life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570).  A private interment of ashes will take place in Orwell Cemetery on a later date.  If desired, donations to STEGH-Foundation would be appreciated.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.sjfh.ca
