Obituary of John Angus MacArthur
MACARTHUR- John Angus of St. Thomas passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the age of 94. Survived by his beloved wife Jean (nee McIntyre) of 73+ years; by his daughter Susan MacArthur (Michael Hurlburt); his son Ian MacArthur; his daughter-in-law Ann Grisham; his grandchildren Jenn Sloetjes (Jason Powchuk), Chris Sloetjes (Andrea Vaincourt), Callum MacArthur (Anna McGeeney), Merrill MacArthur (Brad Wiebusch), and Alexis MacArthur; by his sister Betty Hearn (late Peter); and by his sister-in-law Judy Olsen (Richard); and by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his son David MacArthur (2001); and his sister Corinne (John) Fleming. John was born in Minden, Ontario to the late Wilmer and Mae MacArthur. An Electrical Engineer, he owned and operated a business for the telecommunications industry. John had a passion for singing and was rewarded for his talent by achieving multiple gold placements at the Rotary Music Festival. He loved his family and was a devoted member and Elder at St. Thomas Christian Church. A Celebration of John’s life will be held at St. Thomas Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 451 Wellington Street, St. Thomas on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 1:00 p.m with visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
