Obituary of Don Edward Gander

GANDER - Don Edward of Blenheim, Ont. passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on Monday, March 7, 2016 at the age of 66. Beloved husband of Kim Pettit (nee Ralston) for 22 years. Cherished stepfather of Candace (Elias) Amoun of London, Amanda Pettit of London, and April Pettit (Jared Armstrong) of Blenheim. Adored grandpa of Izabella Amoun and Libby Pettit. Father of Terry and Margo. Dear brother of Glenda Vermeersch, Pat Baker (the late Jack), and Shannon (Mike) McKillop. Loved son-in-law of Rob (Pauline) Ralston and Sue (Gord) Rodgers. Treasured brother-in-law of Holly Ralston (Mike Robinson) and Jill (Erick) Nooyen. Missed by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Glen and Dorothy Gander. Donny had retired after 30 years working at Siemens. He loved camping with his family, doting on his granddaughters, and tinkering with various automobiles over the years. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570). In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A public graveside service with interment of ashes will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, April 23, 2016 in Evergreen Cemetery, Talbot Street East in Blenheim. Following the service, a Celebration of Don’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 185 - 34 Catherine Street, Blenheim. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully acknowledged.
