Obituary of Mary Lou Greenslade

GREENSLADE - Mary Lou (nee Jervis) of St. Thomas, Ont. passed away at home, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family and friends, on Tuesday, January 18, 2016 at the age of 77. Beloved wife of Ken Greenslade for 57 years. Mary Lou is survived by son Tim (Selina) Greenslade; grandchildren Emma, and Garrett; siblings-in-law Allan (Brigitte) Greenslade, Lawrence (Sheila) Greenslade, and Frances Jervis; and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Emma Jervis, her daughter Susan Greenslade (1980), and her brothers Bob and Don Jervis. Mary Lou had retired from the Elgin County Board of Education, and was a member of Plains Baptist Church. Thank you to the personal support workers and VON for their compassionate care of Mary Lou during this difficult time. In keeping with Mary Lou’s wishes, we ask that you dress casually if you are able to join us during this time of remembrance. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) Friday, January 22, 2016 from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm. The memorial service will take place at Plains Baptist Church 6071 Fairview Road at Sparta Line, St. Thomas on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00am. Private interment of ashes in Union Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Plains Baptist Church or the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
