Obituary of Calvin Alexander Jackson

Obituary JACKSON- Calvin Alexander of Glendale Crossing in London, passed away at the LHSC-University Campus on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the age of 94. He is now reunited with his wife, the late Dorothy Jackson (nee Mathers) (July 3, 2019). Calvin was born in Stratford, Ontario to the late Harry and Helena Jackson and was the last surviving member of his family. Predeceased by his brothers Donald, Robert and David Jackson. He is survived by his stepchildren Beth Ryckman, Gerry Mathers, Brenda Stephan, Tracy Leighton; and by his many nieces and nephews. Calvin was a dedicated musician, starting his career with the Stratford Boys Band in 1937. In October 1954 he moved to St. Thomas to become a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br.#41 Concert Band. When the Legion Band folded, he joined the Mocha Tempo Concert band until 2012, when he was invited to join the New Horizon Music Program at the University of Western Ontario. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. A Masonic Service under auspices London Daylight Lodge No. 735 A.F.&A.M. will be conducted at 1:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service to celebrate Calvin’s Life. Interment of ashes in Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery. If desired, donations to the The Kiwanis Music Festival of London would be appreciated.
