Obituary of Ronald Tugwood

TUGWOOD - Ronald James Tugwood of St. Thomas passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on April 1, 2015 at the age of 85. Ron is survived by his beloved wife Patricia; his loving children Carman (Wendy) Tugwood, Rhonda (Russ) Fish, Heather (Wayne) Honeywood, Kevin (Teresa) Tugwood, and Lorraine (Paul) Baughman; by his 19 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; by his brother Raymond Tugwood; sisters-in-law Esther (Vince) Brant, Evelyn (Cal) Sparks, Brenda (Norm) Doherty, Ruth (Arthur) Pfefferle; and by many other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Harry and Florence Tugwood; his brothers Skip, Robert, Harry, and Jerry; his sister Margerite Moon; and by his brother-in-law Paul Brant. Ron was a Veteran, having proudly served his country with the Royal Canadian Regiment for 3 years and with the Merchant Navy for 5 years. He worked most of his life for CP Rail, where he retired at the age of 60. Ron also managed the St. Thomas Curling Club for 16 years, worked at the St. Thomas Golf & Country Club and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion - Lord Elgin Branch 41. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Saturday, April 4, 2015 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at St. Michael and All Angels Parish, 397 Springbank Drive, London on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 2:00pm. If desired, donations to Epilepsy Foundation or MS Society would be appreciated. Visitation Saturday, April 4, 2015 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.
