Obituary of Barb Newson

NEWSON- Barbara June Newson (nee Williams) passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the age of 82. Barb is survived by her loving husband Ray; her children Rick (Judy) Newson, June (Dave) MacDonald, and Jo (Verne) Purvis; grandchildren Ryan (Michele) Newson, Gregg (Mary) Newson, and Eric Newson (Alishia Ivany), Derek (Caitlyn) MacDonald and Darren MacDonald; Cheryl (Josh) Balsdon and Stacie (Josh) Hearn; by her great grandchildren Brinley, Brooke, Caleb, Liam, Olivia, Leah, Henry, and Logan. Predeceased by her parents George and Nellie Williams, her sister Louise and her brother Lawrence. Barb was retired from St. Thomas Public Utilities and was a member of Central United Church, Wo-He-Lo, I.O.D.E. - Stirling Chapter, and Belmont Golf Club. In addition to her beautiful blue eyes, Barb will be remembered for her ever present smile and her positive attitude. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm, where the funeral will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery on a later date. If desired, donations to S.T.E.G.H -Building Fund or Central United Church - Roof Fund would be appreciated.
