Obituary of Gertrude Stormes

STORMES - Gertrude Bernice Stormes (nee Peterson) of Stayner (formerly Port Stanley) passed away peacefully with her sons by her side at Stayner Nursing Home on Monday July 7, 2014. Born in Fredericton Junction, N.B., February 12, 1926, daughter of the late Arthur and Winnifred (Whooten) Peterson. Beloved wife of the late William Stormes (2007). Survived by sons Norm (late Wendy) of Stayner and Doug (Gail) of Brantford, grandchildren Amanda Stormes (Sean Borman) of Waterloo, Jesse Stormes (Joanna Chou) of Stayner, Abby Matanowitsch (Collin) of Collingwood and Bekki Stormes (Tony Diec) of Toronto, Great - Grandchildren Summer and Jack Stormes and Luke and Noah Borman. Also survived by her sister Janet Bowlby and Brother-in-Law Bob Stormes. Predeceased by brothers Wally and Jim Peterson. Loved by many nieces and nephews. Gertrude was a much loved and respected teacher, long time dedicated member of the Rebekah Lodge and a member of Christ Church Anglican, Port Stanley. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Rebekah Lodge Service will be held on Thursday at 6:30 pm. The memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 1:30 pm, with Rev. Patt Nunn officiating. If desired, donations may be made to Christ Church Anglican, Port Stanley or to the Rebekah Lodge Heart Equipment Fund.
