Obituary of Maurice Dillon
DILLON- Maurice V. Dillon passed away at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the age of 82. Maurice is predeceased by his loving wife Eva Dillon (2005). He is survived by his loving children Cyndi of Ottawa (Jeff McLellan), John (Joanne) Dillon of Virden, MB, Dianne O’Neill of Tecumseh, and Lorretta (Maurice) Dillon Robinette of St. Thomas; his grandchildren Tyler Dillon, Amber Dillon-More, Luke, Lexie, and Holly O’Neill; his great grandson Roman Dillon-More; by his sisters Madelyn Ryan, and Dorothy Dillon; and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two sisters Marie Kelly and Geraldine Duffy. Maurice was born in Dublin, Ontario, son of the late Louis and Mary Dillon. He worked most of his life as a General Insurance Broker at Sheridan-Dillon. After his retirement, he began a second career working with Advanced Fire Protection. Maurice also enjoyed volunteering his time on the Board of the V.O.N., as Past President of the St. Thomas Insurance Brokers Association, a long serving member of the Elgin Catholic School Board as well as director of the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association, Past Chairman of the St. Thomas Public Library Board, member of the Post-Polio Group, founder of the St. Thomas Prostate Cancer Support Group and was active with Prostate Cancer Canada. He was also an honorary Life Member of the St. Thomas-Elgin Home Builders Association and honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm and Friday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Parish prayers will be held at the funeral home Friday at 2:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Angels Parish on Saturday at 10:00 am. Interment in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Dublin, Ontario. If desired, donations to Holy Angels Restoration Fund would be appreciated. Visitation
Thursday from 7 - 9 pm and Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm.
Parish prayers at the funeral home Friday at 2:00 pm.
