Obituary of Donald James Eplett
EPLETT - Donald James of St. Thomas passed away peacefully at LHSC Victoria Hospital with his family by his side on August 24, 2013 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Vaillancourt). Don is survived by children Donna (Fred) Pruss, Brian (Heather) Eplett and Heather; grandchildren Katrina, Lindi and Max; siblings Mary, Catherine, Paul, Jim, Albert and Dorothy; in-laws John Paul (Rosemary) Belair, and Ruth Vaillancourt; and by several nieces and nephews. Don was born and raised in Victoria Harbour, Ontario where he worked at the family hardware store and was the Town Reeve. Subsequently he became the clerk-treasurer. In 1975, he accepted a job in Mitchell as Clerk Administrator. When he retired, he and Barb moved to St. Thomas (2005) to be closer to family. He was an active member of the St. Thomas Lions Club, the St. Thomas Seniors Centre, Main Street United Church, and held the office of Treasurer at Central United Church. Don also enjoyed playing pool and cards with family & friends. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm. The St. Thomas Lions Club service will held in the funeral home at 6:45 just prior to the evening visitation. The Memorial Service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 11:00am. If desired, donations to Central United Church would be appreciated or a charity of your choice. Visitation
