Obituary of Hattie Mertick

MERTICK- Hattie Mertick (nee Senicar) passed away peacefully, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, February 10, 2013 in her 96th year. Beloved wife of 63 year to the late John Mertick (2007). Hattie is survived by her children Garry (Stella) Mertick of St. Thomas and Caron Becker of St. Thomas her friend Murray of Sarnia; her grandchildren Marlise Mertick-Bowes, Robert Mertick, Shannon Ashton all of St. Thomas, Rickey (Lisa) Becker of British Columbia, and Jamie Becker of St. Thomas; eight great grandchildren; her sisters Katherine (late Joe) Schiissler of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Matilda (late Stan) Barawski of Calgary, Helen (late Albert) Hornung of Vanguard, Saskatchewan, and Delores (Merk) Kappell of Windthorst, Saskatchewan; her sister-in-law Betty Senicar of Swift Current, Saskatchewan; and by her many other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her twin sisters Elizabeth and Barbara Senicar; grandson Shane Ashton(1973); Son-in-law Ted Becker (2000); her brothers Frank (Doris) Senicar, Bill (Mary) Senicar, and Stan Senicar. Hattie was born in Cadillac Saskatchewan, and was also owner of the Klip & Kurl in St. Thomas. Cremation has taken place. A private grave-side service will be held on a later date as per Hattie’s request. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570).
