Obituary of Kay Isobel Hirtle

Obituary HIRTLE - Kathleen “Kay” (nee Sutherland), passed away at Goodness Retirement Home in St. Thomas on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the age of 92. Predeceased by her husband Murray Seward Hirtle (2011). Kay is survived by her siblings-in-law Dorothy Harrison (late Jim Harrison), and Audrey Smith (Bob) and her many other cousins, nieces and nephews. Kay graduated from the Victoria Hospital of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Thomas-Elgin General, St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital and especially enjoyed her time nursing at King Edward VII Hospital in Bermuda. She also spent much of her time volunteering at STEGH on the Maternity Ward and Emergency Department and at St. John’s Presbyterian Church in Port Stanley. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm, where the funeral will be held in the chapel on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 1:30 pm. Cremation to follow. Interment of ashes will be held in Fingal Cemetery. If desired, donations to Heart & Stroke, Canadian Cancer Society or Pets Friends for Life would be appreciated.
