Obituary of Violet Shirley Bragg
BRAGG - Violet Shirley (nee Thomas) of Elgin Manor, St. Thomas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Bruce Bragg (2014) and the late Charles Jones (1972). Violet is survived by her children Susan Meehan (Adair) of London and Thomas Jones (Tammy) of Freeport, N.S.; stepchildren Shawn Bragg (Sarah) of St. Thomas and Lisa Nicolaou (Dave) of Michigan. Loving grandchildren Todd Jones, Micheal Jones, Ian Currie, Angela Munroe, Kiley Meehan (Christine), Graham Meehan (Erica), Tess Monterroza (Charles), Megan Jones, Samantha Swan (Gerry), Joe Swain, Laurie Cowan, Michelle Breakenridge (Art), Addie Nicolaou and Andie Nicolaou. Great grandchildren Alexander & Jane Meehan and many other great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Violet will be missed by sister Margaret Horsfall. Violet is predeceased by her children Robert Jones (Lynda) and Carolyn Currie. Violet grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and raised her family in the Canadian Armed Forces, enjoying many postings in Eastern Canada and Ontario. Later in life she moved to West Lorne, Ontario, and started a new chapter with her beloved Bruce. In the 1990’s, the midlife newlyweds traveled extensively around the world, then settled in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia where they enjoyed a happy retirement. In 2014, Violet and Bruce returned to Ontario to spend their senior years close to family, residing at Elgin Manor in St. Thomas. Throughout her long life, Violet made many friends working in retail and sharing a love of life. Arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570). A memorial service celebrating Violet’s life will be held at Elgin Manor at a later date. Cremation has taken place. If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
