My wife and I are sorry to hear about Dave's passing. I taught right across the hall from Dave at Norwich District High School back the late seventies and early eighties. Dave was a professional and a well respected teacher. We lost touch over the years, as so often happens but I considered him a good friend when we taught at NDHS. Great memories. I was delighted in recent years to hear about his work in building the sport of pickleball in Northern and Southern Ontario. Our condolences to Dave's family.

Dave was the best brother in law you could ever wish for and we cherished his friendship. He was that guy who loved people and enjoyed socializing. Anything you needed help with, he was there for you going above and beyond as helping people was something he truly enjoyed. During Covid, he didn’t sit around, he sharpened his woodworking skills and created beautiful wooden Canadian flags and sold them. In the winter months you could find Helen and Dave in Florida and we loved to do down and stay with them. We always had a wonderful time play golf and going out for dinners. We will never forget Dave and his corny jokes, with that mischievous smile and those huge dimples.
We miss him already Helen and we are sending our love to you all.
Love Donna & Wayne House

My husband Rod & I met Dave and Helen Hall in the spring of 2013 when they were teaching Pickleball at what is now the Joe Thornton Centre. Dave, who if he hadn’t been a teacher should have been in sales, had approached the Centre saying he could fill the courts there with this fabulous growing sport that anyone could play. Dave and Helen knew this for a fact as they had previously done this up on Manitoulin Island where they had just moved from.
Starting by putting an ad in the paper, Pickleball grew exponentially starting with a handful of people and by the fall of 2013 there were so many people coming out we started the St Thomas Pickleball Club with 40 people joining. With Dave at the helm we taught Pickleball to hundreds of people, public school age on up and ran numerous tournaments and events.
Dave was an educator through and through always planning our next step. Even as Dave was having some health issues he came out to help our club teach Pickleball lessons in January and was planning on running some skills lessons this summer.
Dave was Mr Pickleball and a teacher to the very end. He will be deeply missed in our Pickleball community.
So sorry for your loss, Helen and family. He was truly one of a kind!

Helen & Family...Tom and I are saddened by the loss of Dave. He did go out of his way to help others, especially with Pickleball and I am forever grateful that you both introduced the game in St. Thomas 10 years ago. If it wasn't for you both we may not have had the courts at Pinafore Park like we do now.
