Obituary of David John Hall
HALL – David John, on Sunday, March 5, 2023, David John Hall passed away suddenly at home, at the age of 76. Dave was born on November 7, 1946, in St. Thomas, Ontario to Harold (“Bud”) and Kathleen (“Kady”) (nee Crozier) Hall. Dave is survived by his loving wife Helen; his daughter Amy Reissner (nee Hall); stepdaughter Emily (Geron Beach) Bain; his brothers Bryon (Linda) and Chris (Lynda) Hall; daughter-in-law Helen Hall (nee Outerbridge) and grandsons Brock Reissner and Adam Hall. Predeceased by his parents and son Tyler Hall. Dave will be greatly missed by his mother-in-law Jean (Andy De Prest), sisters-in-law Donna (Wayne) House, Debra Wood, and Elaine (Scott Barclay) Wood, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Dave was a graduate of Guelph University. He worked his entire career as a high school teacher with the majority of his teaching years spent in Woodstock, Ontario. He was instrumental in starting up the pickleball clubs on Manitoulin Island and in St. Thomas, Ontario. He enjoyed boating and fishing and spent many hours on the waters surrounding Manitoulin Island. Dave loved spending his winters in the warm weather down south playing golf and pickleball. He was generous with his time and loved helping others whenever he could. Dave was the type of person who never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation wherever he went. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570). Per Dave’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. If desired, memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully acknowledged. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
